What's the difference between a contactor and a starter?
A contactor switches a motor circuit on and off electrically. A starter is a contactor plus an overload relay, so it also protects the motor from over-current. Motors above 1 HP should run on a starter, not a bare contactor.
How do I size an overload relay?
Set it to the motor's full-load current (FLA) from the nameplate, usually 1.0–1.15× FLA. Send us the motor HP and voltage on WhatsApp and we'll suggest the right contactor and relay.
