Asmon LED Panel — Size & Wattage Guide for Indian Rooms

Asmon LED panels are widely used in Chennai apartments and commercial fit-outs. Get the size and wattage right the first time with this room-by-room guide.

Rule of thumb — 1 W per square foot

For general residential lighting in India, 1 W of modern LED covers about 1 sqft of room area. A 12 × 10 bedroom (120 sqft) needs ~120 W total LED light — one 18W panel + 2 × 5W downlights, for example.

Room-by-room recommendation

Bedroom (10 × 10 to 12 × 12 ft)

1 × 12W round panel primary + 2 × 5W downlight over bed. 3000K warm white for relaxation.

Master bedroom (12 × 14 ft)

1 × 18W square panel + 2 × 5W spot. Optional 1 × wall light on dimmer.

Hall / living (12 × 15 to 15 × 20 ft)

2 × 18W square panels + 2–4 × 5W spot over TV wall. Neutral 4000K or warm 3000K.

Kitchen (8 × 10 ft)

2 × 12W round surface panels (overhead) + 1 × 20W tube light over counter (6500K cool for visibility).

Bathroom (6 × 7 ft)

1 × 8W downlight (waterproof-rated IP44+). 4000K neutral works best for vanity.

Balcony / utility

1 × 9W LED bulb + 12W tube (if laundry or workshop).

Office / showroom

36W 2 × 2 ft panel every 80–90 sqft. 4000K neutral. For product display use 3000K spots.

Round vs square — which to pick?

Round — easier to cut, most standard false ceiling trims fit. Use for bedrooms and bathrooms.
Square — more contemporary look. Better for open halls, offices and modern kitchens.
Mix sparingly in the same room. Picking one shape makes the ceiling look intentional.

Colour temperature — 3000K, 4000K, 6500K?

3000K warm white — relaxing, skin-flattering. Bedrooms, dining, hotels.
4000K neutral white — modern neutral. Living rooms, offices.
6500K cool white — bright, alert. Kitchens, bathrooms, task areas, showrooms.

Driver quality and warranty

Not covered: voltage surge damage, water damage, physical damage during installation.

Installation tips

Cut the false ceiling hole 5 mm smaller than panel diameter. Panel clips grip firmly.
Keep driver accessible — do not seal it behind plaster.
Use AC / regular phase — not dimmer circuits (unless dimmable SKU).
Run a separate neutral. Sharing lighting neutral with sockets causes voltage drop.
